Job Title: Software Engineering Chapter Area Lead

As a seasoned professional in software engineering, you will lead our engineering chapter area by defining the technical roadmap for the crew and streamlining processes to enable velocity through technology enablers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Leadership: Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with reference architecture, enterprise data standards, and modernisation priorities.
  • Removing Technology Blockers: Work closely with squads to deliver autonomously at pace and provide technical direction to teams.
  • Solution Planning and Design: Assist squads in identifying the right technologies and ensuring sound architectural decisions.
  • Capability Requirements: Work with chapter leads to define and forecast Crew tech capability requirements.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive operational excellence, support teams in charge of mission-critical production services, and manage diverse stakeholders and complex dependencies.
  • Design and Technical Debt: Ensure good design, refactoring, and technical debt elimination.
  • Delivery Management: Manage delivery within allocated resources and mitigate delivery and delivered risk.
  • People Management: Accountable for the development, performance management, and career progression of technology roles.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Sound knowledge of large-scale distributed systems, Microservices, and Rest API Integration.
  • Cloud experience, preferably with AWS large scale data warehouse implementation.
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing scalable, maintainable, and reliable software solutions.
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML and Gen AI applications and how they can enhance software engineering processes.
  • Experience building RAGs using LlamaIndex, LangChain, or similar frameworks.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript or C#) and experience developing microservices architecture on cloud platforms (AWS & Azure).
  • A keen interest in researching new AI tooling and daily use of AI coding assistants.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of or experience in Anthropic Claude, Llama, LiteLLM, Cursor, windsurf / Codeium, VO Vercel, Continue, Aider, Cline, Langchain, Langgraph, Hugging Face.

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong technical leadership skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide technical direction to teams and review designs and code to ensure best practices.

Agile Development Methodologies: Proficiency in agile development methodologies and iterative experimentation from ideation to prototype to pilot to product.
