Database Specialist Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Database Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of relational database concepts and SQL, as well as proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing them for performance.

The Database Specialist will be responsible for developing, testing, and deploying Oracle SQL and PL/SQL scripts, packages, procedures, functions, and triggers. This includes optimizing and tuning SQL queries to improve performance and efficiency, troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues, and participating in code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices for SQL and PL/SQL development.

The successful candidate will also have experience with database design principles and data modelling, knowledge of performance tuning techniques and tools for Oracle databases, and strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Additionally, the ability to work independently as well as part of a team and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of experience working with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL in a development environment.
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts and SQL.
  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing them for performance.
  • Experience with PL/SQL programming, including the creation of stored procedures, functions, triggers, and packages.
  • Familiarity with database design principles and data modelling.
  • Knowledge of performance tuning techniques and tools for Oracle databases.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
