Job Opportunity: Purchase and Cost Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to manage purchase accounting, perform detailed vouching, ensure audit readiness, and effectively allocate cost center expenses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchase Accounting & Controls:
    • Verify and process purchase transactions and vendor invoices accurately.
    • Comply with purchase order terms, GST input credit rules, and payment conditions.
    • Collaborate with the procurement team to reconcile GRNs, POs, and invoices for raw materials, spares, consumables, and capital goods.
    • Validate purchase orders, goods receipt notes (GRNs), and vendor invoices for accuracy.
    • Monitor vendor balances, advances, and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Vouching and Internal Checks:
    • Perform thorough vouching of accounting entries, including purchases, expenses, and fixed assets.
    • Evaluate supporting documents (invoices, approvals, contracts) for accuracy and authenticity.
    • Identify anomalies, errors, or potential fraudulent transactions and flag them for corrective action promptly.
  • Audit Support (Internal & Statutory):
    • Prepare and maintain accurate audit schedules and reconciliations related to purchase and cost accounts.
    • Support internal and external auditors with required documentation and clarifications as needed.
    • Implement audit recommendations and strengthen internal controls accordingly to improve efficiency.
  • Cost Center Accounting:
    • Allocate expenses to correct cost centers in accordance with established company policies.
    • Monitor cost center budgets versus actuals and report variances effectively.
    • Assist in financial reporting by preparing cost center-wise profit and loss statements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, including AS, Ind AS, and GST provisions.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, such as SAP, Oracle, Tally, etc.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills to identify areas for improvement.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality results.
