Job Profile:

As a senior R&D leader, you will oversee a team of 6 direct reports in Chennai, managing key responsibilities including successful new product development project delivery, budget management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet healthcare standards.

  • Manage gate-to-gate product development process ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Effectively manage resources, budgets, and timelines to achieve project goals.
  • Collaborate with business managers, product managers, regulatory, production, purchasing teams to align R&D strategy with business growth goals.
  • Develop technical files for relevant product lines and determine test criteria.
  • Serve as the point of contact for technical questions from customers/production/product management/quality & regulatory.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) include delivery of the product roadmap, project performance metrics, cost reduction projects, and quality improvement projects.

Qualifications:

  • Masters in Engineering Mechanical or Electronics as a minimum.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in R&D leadership in the healthcare or medical device industry or highly regulated industry.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a multinational organization, preferably American-led, in a global function, preferably R&D.
  • Experience leading Engineering processes and systems.

Person Specification:

  • Highly engaged attitude.
  • Ability to manage a team under pressure.
  • Ability to undertake travel.
  • Experience in a medical device company is essential.
  • Experience in leading R&D in a multinational environment is essential.
  • Proven innovation and delivery of multiple successful NPIs in European and US markets is essential.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both technical and non-technical.
