Senior Database Administrator Job Description

This is an exceptional opportunity to join our team as a Senior Database Administrator responsible for managing and administering technology in the area of database management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze existing database systems and recommend improvements to enhance overall system performance and efficiency.
  • Manage and maintain Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) clusters, ensuring high availability and performance by monitoring and troubleshooting issues in real-time.
  • Administer and monitor Apache Kafka (open-source) clusters, including topic management, performance tuning, and security best practices to safeguard sensitive data.
  • Perform database administration tasks for Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL systems, including backup, recovery, and performance tuning to ensure seamless data operations.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Shell scripting and Ansible for deployment, monitoring, and configuration management to streamline processes and reduce manual effort.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and developers to optimize data pipelines and ensure data integrity across platforms, leveraging expertise in data warehousing and business intelligence.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices across all data platforms to prevent unauthorized access and protect sensitive information.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the data stack in a timely manner, utilizing strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Expert-level knowledge of relational and NoSQL database technologies, Big Data Technologies, and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Strong understanding of database administration principles, including backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, and C++, and experience with automation tools like Ansible and Shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with containerization and virtualization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
