Job Title

A Buyer Loungewear will be responsible for leading the development of the buying and merchandising strategy.

About the Role
  • This position involves being accountable for all issues related to purchasing merchandise and coordinating with vendors for designated departments.
  • The role requires finding the best resources at the best prices to ensure that products are higher in quality and cost-effective for their respective brands.
  • The person must work with the merchandising team to ensure that all deliveries meet the assigned purchase orders.
Responsibilities
  1. To contribute to the development of the divisional buying and merchandising strategy and to work within this strategy at all times.
  2. To identify possible future product offerings by conducting thorough research about what customers are looking for next and the technological trends that are coming up.
  3. To plan pricing strategies on various product lines with the marketing department and management and aim to reach an agreement with suppliers that allow for optimal pricing.
  4. To develop and source the right product at the right time to meet customer requirements.
  5. To maximize current sourcing channels and identify new opportunities.
  6. To support negotiations and work with the supply base to ensure that best costs and margins are achieved.
  7. To work closely with designers on developing styles, design research trips, fabric & print advice, and informing best sellers for move-on styles.
  8. To work closely with merchandising; management of stock, style options, quantities, promotions, and markdowns.
  9. To keep a track of competitor's activities through market research activities to track understand trends, forecasting, in terms of color, fabric etc.
  10. To review and adjust the season plans and weekly plans.
  11. To obtain range merchandise after effective negotiation.
  12. To work with marketing and design to develop visual merchandising promotions in line with theme and product launches.
  13. To ensure timely delivery of samples by vendors.
  14. To set standards for quality of merchandise with QA.
  15. To reconcile to store plans and fix departmental financial plans.
  16. To support negotiations and work with the supply base to ensure that best costs and margins are achieved.
Requirements
  • The ability to develop and implement strategic plans to achieve business objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to drive decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proven experience in buying and merchandising, preferably in the retail industry.
