Dynamic Finance Professional for Amazon's Accounting Onboarding Team

About the Role

As a key member of Amazon's Finance Operations, Accounting & Analysis (FOAA) team, you will be responsible for supporting our Accounting Onboarding team in delivering great experiences for our customers.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a highly motivated and analytical individual with 8+ years of experience in identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Understand system capabilities to deliver IT solutions to business users across Amazon.
  2. Advise customers on financial integration architecture.
  3. Acquire deep understanding of one or more lines of businesses and system integration and data flows.
  4. Maintain strong knowledge of application functionality.
  5. Help customers author and release accounting configurations using homegrown business configuration management solutions.
  6. Troubleshoot integration issues by partnering with internal technical teams across orgs.
  7. Work closely with technical teams across Amazon's lines of businesses to come up with innovative solutions that accelerate the adoption of technology used for Financial Reporting and reconciliation.
  8. Manage projects independently to support Amazon's global businesses and development teams in the design and implementation of accounting systems.
  9. Provide project management updates within and across business units to transition new processes and/or permanent solutions to support the Amazon accounting team.
  10. Coordinate with global accounting teams to establish and maintain strong communication channels.
  11. Identify, implement, and adhere to best practices across all new project launches.
  12. Offer coaching, support, and guidance to the team.
  13. Support User Acceptance Testing (UATs) in close coordination with business and accounting teams.
  14. Provide inputs for monthly and quarterly business reviews in a timely manner.
  15. Facilitate business reviews with data analysis and follow through with business leaders on actionable items for improving business metrics over time.
  16. Measure and monitor metrics for new business initiatives.
  17. Present recommendations to senior management on strategic decisions and planned future initiatives.
  18. Demonstrate an understanding of accounting principles and internal controls, and apply them.
  19. Ensure appropriate financial policies, procedures, and internal controls are in place, documented, and operating as intended.
  20. Drive process improvements required to enhance controls.
  21. Participate in strategic initiatives and special projects when assigned or required.

A Day in the Life

  • Prioritize tasks, manage resources, and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Gather requirements from various Amazon businesses integrating with financial automation tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop optimal solutions for accounting automation.
  • Conduct code review and config review process following guidelines.
  • Participate in UAT and guide internal customers with troubleshooting.
  • Deploy solutions to production after acquiring UAT sign-off from stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes.
  • 2+ years of experience working in Financial Services implementing solutions.
  • Hands-on experience in ERP implementation along with understanding of modules like GL, AP, AR, CM, FA, Expenses, PPM etc.
  • Strong Project Management skills.
  • Experience working with large-scale data reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).

Estimated Salary: $110,000 - $140,000 per year
