Job Title

Nakshatra Systems is looking forward to hire a linux software repository maintainer who can service and manage the integrity of a software repository (update/upgrade/patch etc).

This is not a system's administrator profile job.

Looking for immediate joiners.

This is a full time contract job of 1 year - work from home.

Candidate will have to sign a legal agreement that will include NDA and NCA.

Vacancy : 1

Minimum experience needed : 0 - 2 years

Since nature is work from home, a good broadband internet connection with IPv6 facility is mandatory for remote logins and work, failing to which contract can be terminated immediately.

Required technical skills :

  • Proficient in linux, bash scripting, C and python.
  • Compiling and creating software from source code.(knowledge of gcc and its cflags dflags prefix etc)
  • Knowledge of build system tools like autotools , meson, ninja, cmake, make, pkg-config, scons etc
  • Keeping track of software dependencies.
  • Patching - creating / providing / managing software patches.
  • Ability to understand and create Makefiles as necessary.
  • Monitoring and staying current with CVE's.
  • Maintaining Changelogs and other documentation.
  • Providing bug fixes. Debugging with gdb if needed.
  • Reviewing changes.
  • knowledge of cvs and git.
  • Connect with upstream developer for solutions if needed to get issues resolved.
  • Good troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of Slackware Linux a HUGE plus as candidates with knowledge of slackware will be prioritized over to those with knowledge of redhat/debian.

Non-technical skills required :

  • Should be fluent in english with good verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently.
  • Should be able to resolve assigned tasks in the specified time-frame/deadlines.
