Linux Systems Administrator Job Description

Objective:

The primary goal of this role is to oversee the management and administration of Linux operating systems. This includes ensuring that all systems are running smoothly, efficiently, and securely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Linux servers, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Implement and enforce security protocols to protect against potential threats.
  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate system maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve system issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years' experience as a Linux systems administrator or equivalent education or training.
  • Strong understanding of Linux fundamentals, including file systems, permissions, and process management.
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Education:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications, such as RHCSA or CCENT.
