Job Title: DMSII Database Specialist

As a DMSII Database Specialist, you will be responsible for performing daily database administration tasks, ensuring efficient data access and system performance.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration, as well as knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases.
  • Monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes.
  • Manage sets, subsets, and indexes to ensure efficient data access.
  • Handle database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures.
  • Support schema changes and perform database reorganizations as required.
  • Assist in capacity planning and ensure data integrity across environments.

Required Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration.
  • Knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery.
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration.
  • Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Exposure to modernization projects (migrating from DMSII to RDBMS/cloud).
  • Knowledge of SQL/relational databases for cross-skill flexibility.
  • Experience in automation scripts for monitoring or DBA tasks.
