Medical Services Director

Provides strategic leadership for medical departments and services. Oversees the coordination and quality of clinical care and support.

  • Responsible for overall coordination and oversight of all medical care provided at the unit and quality of clinical services rendered.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant statutes and regulations.
  • Analyze departmental needs and recommend consultants.
  • Participate in tariff revisions and compensation patterns.
  • Monitor and analyze performance of retained consultants.
  • Rationalize doctor costs.
  • Optimize surgical and medical charges.
  • Responsible for clinician-related quality monitoring, accreditation, and assurance services.
  • Coordinate and conduct medical advisory boards, HOD committees, and departmental meetings.
  • Participate in infection control, pharmacy and therapeutic, ethics, blood transfusion, and CPR analysis committees.
  • Oversee quality improvement initiatives, patient safety awareness, and safety culture surveys.
  • Address consultant requirements and recruitment.
  • Induce, onboard, credential, and privilege new consultants.
  • Train and re-privilege consultants, monitor performance, and conduct appraisals.
  • Address clinical governance issues and initiate actions when necessary.
  • Review and respond to medico-legal cases.
  • Maintain a medicolegal tracker and follow up on active cases.
  • Conduct morality and mortality reviews periodically.
  • Audit clinical billing codes.
  • Provide clinical input for medico-legal cases.
  • Engage with teams through training, performance management, feedback, coaching, and recognition programs.
  • Recommend junior clinical staff for effective functioning.
  • Evaluate and initiate academic activities and programs.
  • Ensure training on patient safety, service excellence, and healthcare communication.
  • Prepare biomedical equipment budgets and optimize equipment utilization.
  • Oversight of medical records and digitization efforts.
  • Conduct awareness programs and drives for service excellence and patient experience.
  • Facilitate medical audits and JCI/NABH accreditation.
