
Cruelty Investigator Advocate

Cruelty to Animals Investigators engage in thorough research and investigative work, conducting field investigations in areas focused by PETA India. This includes the use of animals for experimentation, food, clothing, entertainment, and labor, as well as investigations into environmental and human health hazards related to these issues.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct short- and long-term investigations, including covert operations, from start to finish.
- Conduct in-depth research on animal protection laws and issues.
- Travel to and stay on location for various assignments as necessary.
- Utilize various methods to visit industries that use animals.
- Acquire, inspect, and maintain copies of relevant documents and paperwork from government offices, businesses, and industries during investigations.
- Develop and collaborate with trusted contacts during investigations while ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- Submit detailed daily log notes in an organized manner.
- Use photography and videography to document conditions and animal use, as well as illegal, cruel, and improper conduct.
- Adhere strictly to department standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure legal compliance and materials can be submitted to the police and courts where required.
- Log photos, videos, and other documentation carefully and meticulously per SOP.
- Review and transcribe videos, selecting scenes for use in video edits.
- Collaborate with in-house counsel to assess evidence for law violations.
- Work with experts as required to evaluate investigation findings.
- Prepare comprehensive reports of findings, presenting a clear narrative.
- Perform various tasks to prepare for public release of investigation findings.
- Cooperate fully in police and court proceedings resulting from investigations, as needed.
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
- Investigative journalism or relevant experience in a related field or applicable knowledge preferred.
- Basic veterinary knowledge or experience advantageous.
- Experience as an Honorary Animal Welfare Representative, recognized by the Animal Welfare Board of India, beneficial.
- Proficiency with audio-visual equipment.
- Thorough understanding of animal protection laws.
- Comprehensive knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA India campaigns.
- Fluency in English and Hindi.
- Proficiency in other Indian languages desirable.
- Proven ability to conduct in-depth research using diverse means.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills demonstrated.
- Diligent attention to detail and capacity to handle stress and trauma associated with witnessing animal abuse.
- Ability and willingness to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent organizational skills proven.
- Capacity to make sound judgments and work independently in high-pressure environments.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and utilize discretion at all times.
- Willingness and ability to travel and be away from home, including extended periods if required.
