Bridge Design Engineer

This role involves the assessment and design of bridges, with a focus on steel composite and pretension/posttension structures.

  • Conducting feasibility studies for strengthening and repair
  • Preparing new bridge designs and strengthening designs to meet UK standards
  • Design and assessment checks
  • Preliminary and detailed design of bridges, culverts, and ancillary structures

Key skills required include:

  • Carrying out assessments and developing designs that adhere to Eurocodes
  • Utilizing CAD software to create accurate drawings and specifications
  • Compiling reports, correspondence, and other documentation within set deadlines
  • Maintaining high standards of quality and following established guidelines

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Sharing knowledge and best practices with colleagues
  • Participating in team meetings and learning sessions to stay up-to-date with industry developments
  • Developing and increasing skills in software such as MIDAS, LUSAS, and Superstress

Required qualifications and skills:

  • Strong understanding of bridge design principles and Eurocodes
  • Experience with CAD software and calculation templates
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
