Principal Engineer Role

The WSP Aviation team is seeking an experienced Airfield Engineer to fill the Principal Engineer position within our office in India. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading the growth and development of the team, taking ownership of project delivery, providing leadership and direction to junior team members, and undertaking technical design reviews.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the design lead for airfield civil engineering projects, ensuring successful delivery and leadership.
  • Plan work, manage project delivery, and undertake project progress monitoring.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications related to airfield engineering projects.
  • Undertake or contribute towards technical design reviews to meet quality management requirements.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate designs with team members, industry associates, and clients.
  • Identify and manage design risks, issues, and Request for Information (RFIs).
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have sound technical abilities, a degree in Civil Engineering, and 10 years of experience in civil infrastructure design at airports.

  • Civil engineering experience working on large, technically complex multi-disciplinary airport projects from concept through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Experience managing engineering professionals in the delivery of technical aviation projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills when providing design information or interacting with team members, industry associates, and clients.
  • Competent self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and part of a team to meet business objectives both in the UK and India.
  • Experience of international airfield design standards such as ICAO and FAA.
  • Knowledge and experience of using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and relevant other airfield engineering design software packages.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
