Assistant Sales Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced sales professional to drive business development, client acquisition, and relationship management within the solar energy sector. This is a challenging role that requires strong communication skills, industry knowledge, and a passion for renewable energy.

The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in solar project sales, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. We are looking for someone who can develop and execute sales strategies, conduct market research, build strong networks, and deliver impactful presentations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sales Strategy & Business Development: Develop and execute sales strategies for solar projects in line with company objectives.
  2. Conduct Market Research: Identify potential leads and opportunities through market research.
  3. Build Strong Networks: Establish relationships with key decision-makers across government, commercial, and industrial sectors.
  4. Deliver Impactful Presentations: Explain solar energy solutions to clients through engaging sales presentations.

Proposal & Contract Management: Assist in preparing accurate technical and financial proposals. Collaborate with technical teams to define project scope and cost estimates. Finalize agreements with clients.

Client Relationship Management: Maintain and strengthen client relationships through regular communication and post-sales support. Resolve project-related issues and address client concerns. Identify opportunities for upselling additional services.

Project Coordination: Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery. Monitor project progress against timelines and budgets while aligning with client expectations. Analyze performance of completed projects and suggest areas for improvement.

Sales Reporting & Forecasting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, leads, and client interactions. Share sales reports and forecasts with the Sales Head. Identify patterns and improve sales strategies.

Industry Knowledge & Networking: Stay updated on solar technology, government policies, and renewable energy trends. Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking forums.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Any Graduate / BE / B.Tech (MBA preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of total experience with at least 2–3 years in solar/renewable energy project sales.
  • Must Have Successfully Executed: A solar project of at least 500 kW (rooftop or ground-mounted).
  • Candidates from Open Access Projects: Channel sales or inside sales will not be considered.
  • Candidates Who Have Been Validated/Interviewed: In the past 6 months should not be sourced.

Skills Required:

  • Strong Knowledge of Solar Energy Products: Systems and solutions.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong Organizational Abilities: Time management and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in MS Office: CRM tools and sales reporting software.
  • Ability to Interpret Technical Data: Present solutions clearly to clients.

Self-Motivated: Ability to work both independently and in a team.

Industry-Specific Requirements:

  • Familiarity with Solar Energy Sector: Trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of Renewable Energy Policies: Government regulations and incentives.
