Job Description

The Legal Officer plays a pivotal role in maintaining the university's legal integrity by offering expert legal counsel, managing litigation, and advising on policy development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Advice and Compliance: Provide timely and accurate legal advice on various matters to senior management while ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Contract and Document Management: Draft, review, and vet legal documents, including Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and standard agreements with external parties.
  • Litigation Management: Coordinate with the university and external legal advisors and standing counsels on court matters, preparing responses to grievances and attending court when necessary.
  • Policy Development: Monitor internal legal processes, update existing internal policies, and help formulate and implement new ones.
  • Grievance and Dispute Resolution: Serve as a member secretary for committees, such as the Committee Against Sexual Harassment, and handle internal disputes from a legal perspective.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in law (LLB or LLM) from a recognized institution with Bar Council of India registration.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of six years of experience is required as an advocate or working in the legal department of an organization preferably in the education sector demonstrating hands-on application of legal knowledge.
  • Possesses strong analytical, negotiation, and drafting skills, along with excellent oral and written communication abilities. Knowledge of Telugu is essential.
