Job Title: Category Lead

Role Overview:

The Category Lead will be responsible for driving growth, market share, and profitability of assigned product categories. The role involves category strategy development, product lifecycle management, competitive analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure category success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Category Management & Strategy
  1. Define and execute category growth strategy in alignment with company objectives.
  2. Identify opportunities for new titles, formats, or product lines based on market trends and customer demand.
  3. Conduct regular competitor benchmarking and pricing analysis.
  • Product Planning & Lifecycle
  1. Work with editorial and production teams to develop new products within the category.
  2. Ensure timely launches of new titles and manage their go-to-market plans.
  3. Monitor product performance and take corrective actions for underperforming SKUs.
  • Sales & Marketing Alignment
  1. Partner with sales teams to drive category sales across offline & online channels.
  2. Collaborate with marketing teams for campaigns, promotions, and visibility initiatives.
  3. Provide category insights and product training to the salesforce.
  • Data & Performance Management
  1. Analyze sales data, consumer insights, and industry reports to refine category strategy.
  2. Track and report category KPIs (revenue, profitability, market share, penetration).
  3. Manage category P&L, ensuring profitability and sustainable growth.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration
  1. Work closely with editorial, design, production, supply chain, and digital marketing teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • MBA/PGDM in Marketing, Sales, or related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in category management, product management, or brand management.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and execution skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
