Job Overview

The role of Performance Support Engineer is pivotal in ensuring the technical support team's operational efficiency, focusing on performance and instance availability.

This position requires exceptional problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to analyze complex issues and provide effective solutions.

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as this role involves close collaboration with various internal teams and direct customer interaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and resolve system outages or performance bottlenecks, utilizing tools such as BigData, Splunk, and Grafana to monitor metrics and trends related to transactional throughput, memory, CPU, job processing, and disk utilization.
  • Apply database optimization techniques to directly tune databases, add indexes, maintain tables and data, and understand execution plans to recommend improved query structures.
  • Review code to pinpoint and rectify performance concerns, ensuring seamless system operation.
  • Facilitate communication between customers and internal teams (Development, Infrastructure, Networking, Hardware) to reproduce performance issues and conduct root cause analysis.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, Oracle)
  • Strong Java background, including understanding object-oriented design principles and memory management
  • Proficiency in one (or more) scripting languages, with JavaScript being preferred, but Python or Perl also acceptable
  • Advanced Unix/Linux expertise
  • Ability to analyze java heap dumps as well as thread dumps
