Lead Actuarial Manager Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Actuarial Manager to lead our team of model developers. The successful candidate will have a strong background in actuarial science, mathematics, or a related field.

The Lead Actuarial Manager will be responsible for leading various quarterly model changes, including assumption updates, new business setup, and improving model efficiency. This role requires the ability to perform independent testing and impact quantification and justification. Detailed documentation and communication regarding model changes with wider teams is also essential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and delivering various quarterly model changes;
  • Performing independent testing and impact quantification and justification;
  • Detailed documentation and communication regarding model changes with wider teams;
  • Reviewing work done by junior members, ensuring quality of work product during time-sensitive deadlines;
  • Maintaining strong stakeholder/client relationships; and
  • Serving as the primary touchpoint for Testing, Valuation, and Risk Management teams for support on business and model-related queries.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, math, stats, engineering, computer science, or equivalent quantitative discipline;
  2. 8-10 years of experience in US life insurance with minimum 4-6 years of life/Annuity actuarial modeling in Moody's AXIS;
  3. 8-10 actuarial papers - ideal requirement;
  4. Good knowledge of US Life insurance and specifically Variable Annuity products (Fixed Indexed Annuity, Guaranteed Minimum Income/Death/Withdrawal benefits, Indexed Linked Annuities, Group Annuities, Payouts);
  5. Excellent technical knowledge of US STAT/GAAP regulations (PBR, NY DFS Reg 213, LDTI DAC);
  6. Expertise in Actuarial modeling - Moody's AXIS (such as handling scenarios, Formula tables, application of overrides, awareness of significant switches in reserving assumption sets);
  7. Understanding of calculation of AXIS cashflows and reserves on a first principle basis;
  8. Excellent coding and troubleshooting skills in GGY AXIS modelling software;
  9. Knowledge of Hedging, Asset Liability modelling, and derivatives in Moody's AXIS is an added skillset;
  10. Good working knowledge of the relevant actuarial concepts and methodologies;
  11. Strong analytical ability and ability to drive various process and analytical improvement initiatives within the team;
  12. Excellent communication, execution, and people management skills.
