Operations Manager: Steel Casting

We seek an experienced Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day steel casting operations, ensuring optimal production output, quality standards, and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate all activities related to the steel casting process, including moulding, melting, pouring, knockout, and finishing.
  • Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality standards and minimizing downtime.
  • Monitor workflow, manpower allocation, machine utilization, and materials to achieve daily and monthly targets.
  • Implement and maintain safety protocols, housekeeping, and 5S principles on the shop floor.
  • Inspect and ensure the dimensional and metallurgical quality of castings is as per specifications.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain detailed production reports including shift performance, material consumption, and manpower usage.
  • Identify process bottlenecks and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for productivity and quality.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate production staff to enhance skill development and team efficiency.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Diploma / B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or Production Engineering.
  • 5–7 years of experience in steel casting / foundry production operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of casting processes such as sand casting, shell moulding, core making, melting, and heat treatment.
  • Familiarity with ferrous metallurgy, alloy compositions, and defect analysis.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing safety standards and quality assurance systems (ISO, TS, etc.).
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems and MS Office for production planning and reporting.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle manpower and work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
