Senior Liability Underwriter

We are seeking an experienced Liability Specialist to manage a portfolio of financial lines business, develop underwriting strategies, and work closely with clients and brokers to deliver sustainable and profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and evaluate risk exposure for Financial Lines business (D&O, EPLI, Cyber, PI, Crime, Transaction Liability, etc.) within defined authority.
  • Structure, price, and negotiate treaty and facultative reinsurance arrangements to ensure optimal coverage.
  • Review submissions, assess risk exposure, and provide tailored solutions to meet client needs.
  • Manage and grow a book of business while maintaining profitability through data-driven decision making.
  • Monitor market trends, claims experience, and emerging risks impacting liability lines to stay ahead of the competition.
  • Contribute to product development and portfolio diversification initiatives to drive business growth.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cedents, brokers, and internal stakeholders through effective communication and relationship management.
  • Represent the firm in client meetings, negotiations, and industry forums to promote our brand and services.
  • Provide technical support and thought leadership on Financial Lines to drive innovation and excellence.
  • Work with regional/global underwriting teams for alignment and knowledge sharing to achieve business objectives.
  • Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to training initiatives to foster talent development.
  • Support senior management in strategic planning and reporting to inform business decisions.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years in Liability/Financial Lines underwriting (insurance or reinsurance) with strong knowledge of the Indian market and regional/global exposure preferred.
  • Deep understanding of D&O, PI, Cyber, and other specialty liability products; strong grasp of treaty & facultative structures.
  • Graduate / Postgraduate degree with professional qualifications.
  • Strong analytical and risk assessment skills to identify potential issues and opportunities.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Commercial acumen with strategic thinking ability to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills to convey complex ideas and information.
