Lead Credit Risk Strategist

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Lead Credit Risk Strategist to lead our credit risk, underwriting, and portfolio management functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in defining, implementing, and monitoring credit policies, frameworks, and processes aligned with business goals, while ensuring risk management standards and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement credit strategies that balance growth objectives with prudent credit practices.
  • Lead the credit appraisal and underwriting function, including assessment of borrower risk, financial due diligence, and creditworthiness evaluation.
  • Oversee portfolio quality, delinquency management, and design early warning mechanisms to mitigate risk.
  • Collaborate with business, risk, and operations teams to ensure alignment and drive results.
  • Present credit proposals and portfolio performance updates to senior management and regulators as required.

Key Requirements:

  • 8–15 years of experience in credit risk/underwriting, preferably with NBFCs, fintechs, or banks with strong SME/MSME exposure.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain finance, bill discounting, invoice financing, and related credit products.
  • Proven ability to build credit frameworks from scratch and manage large loan books with quality.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory norms, compliance requirements, and RBI guidelines for NBFCs.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
