API Engineering Lead

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead the design, development and deployment of enterprise-grade API solutions using Microsoft Azure.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Azure API Management, cloud-native architectures and integration strategies with a proven track record of leading complex API initiatives across large-scale environments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the design, development and deployment of APIs using Azure API Management
  • Architecting scalable and secure API solutions aligned with business and technical requirements
  • Managing the full API lifecycle: design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring and versioning
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including developers, architects, DevOps and business stakeholders
  • Implementing API security protocols including OAuth2, JWT and IP filtering
  • Monitoring API performance and usage metrics; optimizing for scalability and reliability
  • Driving automation and CI/CD practices for API deployments
  • Providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Ensuring compliance with enterprise integration standards and governance

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • 7+ years of experience in software development and integration
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Azure API Management
  • Strong understanding of RESTful and SOAP APIs
  • Proficiency in Azure services: Logic Apps, Functions, Event Grid, Service Bus etc.
  • Experience with API gateway policies, throttling, caching and transformation
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of security best practices for APIs and cloud environments
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and leadership skills

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-204, AZ-305)
  • Experience with hybrid cloud or multi-cloud environments
  • Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture
