Database Optimization Specialist

The primary objective of this role is to provide expert-level database management, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.

  • Support ongoing efforts in optimizing database operations, including performance monitoring, query optimization, code deployments, access management, and database analysis.
  • Review and implement data loading scripts related to Golden Gate data replication.
  • Optimize and tune SQL queries and indexes in Oracle.
  • Work with advanced Oracle capabilities, such as 12c/19c and Exadata features.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical and communication skills, enabling them to effectively convey findings and recommendations to large groups.

Key Skills:

  • Proficient PL/SQL programming and development skills (package, procedures, functions, triggers)
  • Expertise in performance tuning using SQL Trace, Explain Plan, Indexing, and Hints
  • Advanced knowledge of database triggers, indexes, and partitioning
  • Comprehensive understanding of Oracle architecture
  • Ability to read and evaluate query execution plans

This role requires a highly skilled individual who can manage database objects, monitor performance, and ensure proper backups, active sessions, long-running queries, tablespace configuration, and space allocations.

Responsibilities include coordination with data architects and analysts on building schemas, tables, functions, views, stored procedures, and roles, as well as providing DBA supervision and Oracle best practices guidance for custom application development and routine database administration efforts.
