Senior Technical Director Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced engineering leader to drive platform strategy and execution. This role will oversee core infrastructure, developer experience, data platforms, and frontend frameworks powering global-scale SaaS products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive 12-18 month vision for the platform organization, aligning technical direction with business objectives.
  • Establish guidelines for modern development stacks, automate boilerplate code, and ensure consistent quality standards.
  • Create unified data approaches for ingestion, governance, observability, and schema validation across multiple data stores.
  • Take ownership of Kubernetes clusters, networking, IaC, and cloud security.
  • Promote robust CI/CD pipelines, progressive rollout practices, and end-to-end observability standards.
  • Collaborate with InfoSec and Legal teams to integrate controls for SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, and other regional frameworks.
  • Cultivate a culture of trust, ownership, and inclusion while maintaining high technical standards.

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years leading platform, infrastructure, or SRE teams in high-scale SaaS environments.
  • Deep expertise in Kubernetes, container orchestration, and IaC (Terraform/Helm).
  • Strong foundation in TypeScript/Node.js, service meshes, and event-driven systems.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver multi-region compliant architectures.
  • Track record of implementing CI/CD, observability, and reliability practices.
  • Comfort working in regulated industries with SOC 2, HIPAA, or equivalent standards.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
