Job Title: Mainframe Automation Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and maintain automation scripts and jobs on mainframe environments.
  • Work with automation tools such as CA OPS/MVS, REXX, IBM System Automation, Control-M, JCL and CLIST.
  • Troubleshoot automation-related issues and provide root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, operations and application teams to integrate automation solutions.
  • Develop best practices and reusable automation frameworks for mainframe operations.
  • Monitor system performance and implement proactive automation to reduce manual interventions.
  • Document automation processes, configurations and standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 8–10 years of hands-on experience in mainframe operations and automation.
  • Strong programming/scripting skills in REXX, JCL and CLIST.
  • Experience with automation tools such as CA OPS/MVS, IBM System Automation or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of mainframe systems: z/OS, DB2, CICS, IMS and MQ.
  • Good understanding of scheduling tools like Control-M, CA7 or Tivoli.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Good To Have:

  • Experience with DevOps and modern automation practices.
  • Knowledge of cloud or hybrid mainframe environments.
  • Exposure to ITIL processes.

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for designing implementing and maintaining automation scripts and jobs on mainframe environments. The ideal candidate will have 8–10 years of hands-on experience in mainframe operations and automation along with strong programming/scripting skills in REXX, JCL and CLIST.
