Mainframe Developer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex mainframe applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-quality mainframe applications using COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, and REXX programming languages.
  • Implement and maintain system utilities and tools to optimize system performance and resource utilization.
  • Develop and implement JCL scripts for job processing, ensuring efficient and reliable execution.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve system issues, applying strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed technical documentation for all developed systems and applications.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in z/OS operating system, including its components and functionalities.
  • Knowledge of security and access control using RACF.
  • Experience with Time Sharing Option/Interactive System Productivity Facility (TSO/ISPF) for interacting with the z/OS system.
  • Familiarity with various z/OS utilities and tools.
  • Understanding of mainframe networking concepts and protocols.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving system issues.
