Workplace Sustainability Specialist Opportunity

The Responsible Mica Initiative is seeking a highly motivated candidate to support the growth of its activities in India and strengthen its support to upstream supply chain actors located in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh in their journey towards sustainability.

This role will involve auditing and training mica processors and small to medium semi-mechanized mines to ensure compliance with the Global Workplace Standard (GWS) and forthcoming RMI mining standard. The successful candidate will be based in Bhilwara, Rajasthan state, India, and will work closely with the Executive Team, governance bodies, members, and partners.

Missions & Responsibilities

  • Establish gap assessments of India mica processors and mica mines versus RMI's GWS and the forthcoming RMI mining standard. Co-design corrective action plans with those processors and mine owners as needed.
  • Support processors and mine owners in implementing corrective action plans effectively and monitor progress in terms of compliance with regards to RMI workplace and due diligence standards.
  • Coordinate collective third-party audit protocols for RMI members, collaborating with the Executive team.
  • Liaise regularly with RMI accredited external auditing companies.
  • Develop training content for auditors on RMI standards and conduct online or face-to-face training sessions related to responsible workplace standards at processing and mining sites.
  • Perform quality checks on audit reports.
  • Analyze audit data and build presentations for the team and members.
  • Support the Workplace Standard and Sustainability Manager in Jharkhand if needed.
  • Share updates on legal developments with the team when new laws or changes in existing laws come into effect.
  • Monitor and report on all above activities to the Executive team, governance bodies, and beneficiaries.
  • District level advocacy in Rajasthan:
    • Build and maintain a network with local district governmental officers / authorities. Regularly update this network with RMI's progress, planned activities, and challenges.

Education & Experience

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in International Development, Business, Engineering/Mining, or related field.
  • Experience in supply chain social and environmental auditing.
  • Knowledge of Indian labor laws and regulations, Industrial EHS requirements, Quality and Production systems.
  • Multi-stakeholder project coordination and monitoring experience.
  • Ideal experience related to mining industry.
  • Facilitating training sessions experience.
  • Working experience in Rajasthan or with Rajasthan stakeholders.
  • 5-10 years of experience working on related missions.
