Cloud Financial Operations Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Cloud FinOps professional to join our cloud engineering team and drive financial accountability across our cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, GCP, Datadog, MongoDB Atlas, and other engineering tools. This role requires strong technical expertise in cloud-native services and cost management strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and analyze cloud spend across compute, storage, networking, and PaaS services.
  2. Identify cost optimization opportunities (rightsizing, auto-scaling, reserved instances, spot usage).
  3. Partner with engineering, product, and platform teams to design cost-efficient architectures.
  4. Define and enforce tagging standards for accurate cost allocation and chargeback.
  5. Manage storage lifecycle policies to optimize retention, archival, and tiering strategies.
  6. Build dashboards, alerts, and reports to improve cost visibility and accountability.
  7. Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis of cloud spend.
  8. Optimize licensing, reservations, and savings plans across cloud services.
  9. Provide regular FinOps insights to leadership on spend trends, risks, and savings wins.
  10. Promote a FinOps-first culture by educating teams on cost awareness and best practices.
  11. Ensure compliance with governance, RBAC, security, and financial policies.
  12. Automate operational tasks through CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure Automation).
  13. Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and runbooks for FinOps operations.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 5+ years in Cloud Engineering.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, communicate effectively, and collaborate in fast-paced environments.
