Job Title: Head IP

Educational Qualifications: Graduate or postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or Material Science.

Additional Qualification: WON certification and WIPO DL101 qualification will be an advantage.

Experience: 18+ years of experience in the field.

Purpose of the Role:

  • Review NPD designs for potential areas of IP legal risk and identify mitigation strategies to strengthen technology and NPD culture through IP protection.
  • Develop search strategies for FTO, SOA, invalidation, opposition, litigation, etc. and carry out search analysis.
  • Perform advanced technology and analysis, including competitive intelligence analysis and design IP protection across business clusters.

Role Description:

  1. Initiate actions to de-risk designs/products (current/future) and drive IP culture.
  2. Perform advanced patent and competitor portfolio analysis, leveraging tools like IT and data analytics for effective search and analysis of IP.
  3. Work closely with IP attorneys, legal associates, and close IP FTO opinion reports in a timely manner.
  4. Plan and conduct BOM FTO reviews for NPD at product level across automotive technology domains, implementing best-in-class practices, standardizing processes, and enhancing productivity through digitalization.
  5. Release periodic IP alerts, review and dispose concerns from stakeholders, and effectively build conviction with stakeholders and manage projects/business clusters independently.
  6. Plan, conduct FTO, state-of-art search analysis on LRP/advanced technology, and trigger timely protection of all forms of IP across major global jurisdictions.
  7. Be well-versed with industry best practices, state-of-the-art tools for IP searches, and perform searches across multiple jurisdictions.
  8. Review and resolve claim interpretation issues in FTO with stakeholders, liaise with legal teams for effective disposal, maintain confidentiality of IP matters, systematically docket records, and foster best-in-class IP culture.

Qualification in IP Law, WON certificate will be an advantage.
