Vehicle Durability Expert

The goal of this position is to create detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models to evaluate vehicle durability.

  • Create FEA models using NCode, NASTRAN, ANSA, or Abaqus software to simulate real-world operating conditions and predict component damage levels.
  • Perform road load data analysis to improve structural design and optimize vehicle durability.
  • Correlate load data with CAE fatigue predictions to establish accurate cyclic load and damage predictions.

Evaluating Structural Load Paths:

  • Assess structural load paths, material fatigue thresholds, and road load transfer mechanisms for components such as chassis, suspension, body structures, and powertrain mounts.

Durability Test Planning:

  • Develop and implement durability test plans, block-cycles, for specific vehicle components and systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sign-off virtual performance based on simulation models, with clear documentation of results and recommendations.
  • Communicate with Clients for requirement gathering and regular project updates.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team through strong communication.
  • Conduct research to implement various requirements and make informed decisions in a timely manner.
  • Participate in weekly review meetings and contribute ideas or solutions to problems.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Technical Skillset:

  • Expertise in creating detailed FEA models for Endurance Testing, Fatigue Analysis, and Vibration Analysis.
  • Understanding of multi-body dynamics and effects of vibration, materials interaction etc. on fatigue and durability.
  • Experience in performing road load data analysis as well as correlating load data with FEA predictions.
  • Hands-on experience in using NCode, NASTRAN, ANSA, or Abaqus software.

Desirable Skills:

  • Optimization of vehicle durability.
  • Development and implementation of durability test plans or block cycles for vehicle subsystems or components.
