**Fresh Produce Specialist - Driving Sales and Growth

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Fresh Produce Specialist to lead sourcing, sales, and category development for a diverse portfolio of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute growth plans across vegetable staples (onion, garlic, potato) and fruit categories (apple, citrus).
  • Track price trends, trade flows, and customer demand patterns to inform strategic decisions.
  • Create assortment strategies (varieties, pack sizes, sourcing regions) for each category to drive sales and profitability.
Sales and Business Development
  • Directly drive sales of assigned categories across ecommerce, quick commerce, modern retail, and institutional buyers.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and negotiate deals to achieve revenue and margin targets.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a sales team to scale with category volumes.
Sourcing and Supplier Development
  • Build and maintain supplier networks across regions for vegetables and fruits.
  • Negotiate procurement contracts to ensure price competitiveness, consistent quality, and supply reliability.
  • Explore import/export opportunities for off-season coverage.
Operations and Supply Chain
  • Align with procurement and operations teams for efficient sourcing, grading, packaging, and logistics.
  • Optimize farm-to-customer movement, minimizing wastage and cost.
  • Ensure freshness and availability across the portfolio.
Financial and Performance Management
  • Own the financial performance of assigned categories, managing revenues, margins, and working capital.
  • Monitor SKU profitability, wastage levels, and demand-supply alignment.
  • Generate regular performance dashboards highlighting risks and opportunities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of fresh produce value chains—farm production, seasonality, mandi dynamics, imports/exports.
  • Hands-on sales experience with ability to close deals and grow revenues.
  • Negotiation and vendor management expertise.
  • Analytical skills to track price trends, demand forecasts, and category economics.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with supply chain, operations, sales, and finance teams.
