Job Description

This role is part of a team supporting project delivery under the supervision of a senior or project engineer. The key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing feasibility study reports in agreed formats and reviewing them with the Local CRC Head of Structures.
  • Working with the WSP SG Team to assemble design specifications compliant with employer requirements, agreeing on format and content, and monitoring their preparation for timely delivery.
  • Agreeing and monitoring scope of works with the Local iCRC Head of Structures.
  • Defining building requirements and purposes of use with the Local iCRC Head of Structures and the WSP SG Team for detailed design.
  • Carrying out detailed design to WSP and B Regulations standards, ensuring CDM, QA, and technical reviews, and sign-offs by the Local iCRC Head of Structures, including complex calculations and coordination issues.
  • Reviewing and monitoring calculation production, including QA, technical reviews, and sign-offs.
  • Ensuring information for project costing preparation is completed in detail and on time, and keeping the WSP SG Team informed about design progress through explanation of design decisions.
  • Providing documentary information via the WSP SG Team to assist in tender document preparation, ensuring information for tender preparation is completed in detail and on time, and keeping the WSP SG Team informed about design progress through explanation of design decisions.
  • Coordinating project contract documents (drawings and specifications) and reviewing input from team members.
  • Addressing day-to-day queries from the WSP SG Team, ensuring relevant information is available on time for construction activity.
  • Reporting variances between constructed works and design intent to the WSP SG Team and the Local iCRC Head of Structures.
  • Project managing commissions from the WSP SG Team using applicable project management tools.
  • Leading the design process and encouraging the rest of the team to deliver appropriate and cost-effective solutions within agreed programs.
  • Fully following document control, archiving CDM, and QA processes relevant to project work, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence are issued and filed appropriately, and coaching junior staff in their usage.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The applicant should have:

  • Proven experience in designing Building Structures with significant experience in a similar role or a good track record.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Mastery of technical structural software such as RAM, CSC, ETABSs, and SAFE.
  • A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project.
  • Fluency in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.
