Mainframe Tester Job Summary

Our organization is seeking a skilled Mainframe Tester to join our team. As a Mainframe Tester, you will be responsible for creating and executing test plans to ensure the quality of mainframe systems.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Create comprehensive test strategies and plans to define scope and approach of testing.
  • Analyze system requirements and design test cases to validate functionality.
  • Develop and execute test scripts to identify defects and ensure software meets specifications.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve software quality.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience in mainframe testing life cycle process.
  • In-depth knowledge of editing JCL or creating JCL to submit test batch jobs.
  • Awareness of TSO/ISPF commands in mainframe environment.
  • Ability to edit mainframe files using layouts/copybooks.
  • Knowledge of analyzing logs in spool for abended jobs.
  • Ability to work with IT developers to analyze COBOL programs.

Preferred Skills:

  • STLC Lifecycle (Software Testing Life Cycle) or Agile methodology.
  • Experience with DB2 or output files.
  • Ability to prepare detailed test closure reports/signoff for testing.
