Job Overview

HSBC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Credit Risk Assurance Professional to join our team. As a key member of our Traded Risk Assurance function, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of credit risk across the organization.

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional with expertise in counterparty credit risk management and assurance to join our team. You will be responsible for providing independent and effective review and challenge of key counterparty credit risk processes, including regulatory reporting.

About the Role

In this role, you will support the definition and scoping of the Traded Credit Risk Assurance function, promoting synergies and efficiencies while securing an optimal and best-in-class control environment. You will challenge first-line control and risk owners to ensure that risk management activities are working effectively, including monitoring compliance with relevant policies.

You will provide subject matter expertise, advice, guidance, and effective challenge to risk and control owners, as well as report on the risk and control profile, including impacts of external environment changes, emerging risks, and changes to the business strategy.

Additionally, you will work closely with internal audit to understand the outcomes of their reviews and how this affects the control environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support the definition and scoping of the Traded Credit Risk Assurance function
  2. Challenge first-line control and risk owners to ensure effective risk management activities
  3. Provide subject matter expertise, advice, guidance, and effective challenge to risk and control owners
  4. Monitor compliance with relevant policies
  5. Report on the risk and control profile
  6. Work closely with internal audit
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A CA / MBA in Finance or Masters in a similar and relevant field
  • At least 5 years of work experience in a Big4 / Financial services firm in the area of internal audit, assurance, or traded risk management
  • Good working knowledge of counterparty credit risk reporting requirements and regulations, across standardized and internal model approaches
  • Good understanding of various counterparty credit risk reporting metrics (EAD, PFE, EE, EPE, EEPE) and the calculation of them
  • Practical experience of counterparty credit risk management &/or control within a financial institution
  • Ability to provide independent and effective review and challenge of key counterparty credit risk processes
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £80,000 - £100,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, you will also receive a range of benefits, including health insurance, pension scheme, and generous holiday allowance.
