Job Title: Senior Actuarial Specialist

  • Candidates are expected to handle multiple analytics projects for PC insurance related to Reserving- Valuation/ Claim Analysis and other Actuarial Projects.
  • They will manage a team or line of business for quarterly/half-yearly/annual valuations to ensure reserves are sufficient to meet future obligations.
  • Actuaries must liaise with business partners on claims, underwriting, and pricing to understand business strategies and market environment.
  • Regular discussions with the line of business actuary are required on claims experience, methods, and assumptions used.
  • Actuaries must present findings to senior management and stakeholders.
  • They will provide actuarial insights on strategic initiatives and business/results communications as requested.
  • Actuaries will ensure adherence to internal guidelines and processes in all analysis and results.
  • Use of analytics including development of analytical tools, analysis of insurance risk, and general support for risk analytics and predictive modeling is required.
  • Researching new Reserve/Reserve Risk/claims analytics methodologies and developing creative solutions to actuarial issues is essential.
  • Independently analyzing project requirements to own and deliver projects/initiatives with high quality is required.
  • Understanding business problems and translating business information into dynamic reports or dashboards to generate meaningful business insights is a key responsibility.
  • Analyzing and applying technical information to practical situations and assessing opportunities for improvement is necessary.
  • Managing teams and ensuring feedback of team members is also required.
  • Senior management will report to Senior Actuarial Lead.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Qualified/nearly qualified Actuary.
  • Outstanding analytical and modeling capabilities with research and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and tight deadlines and responsible for priorities and deadlines for others.
  • Developing collaborative relationships to facilitate work goals is essential.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and problem-solving ability.
  • Experience in statistical analysis software or predictive modeling is an added advantage.
  • Team management experience including basic managerial skills, coaching, and development, performance management etc. is required.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to review the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
  • Innovative and result-oriented.
  • Technical expertise in SQL, SAS, or VBA would be an added advantage.
