Key Performance Areas:

This role involves spearheading the design and development of power electronics systems, driving innovation through research and collaboration. As a Staff Engineer, you will oversee the creation of detailed product specifications, ensuring seamless system integration.

  • Product Development Leadership: Define and manage product development projects, focusing on electrical, environmental, and functional compliance.
  • Design Excellence and Review: Conduct thorough reviews of hardware designs and firmware control, emphasizing high-level system integration, reliability, and performance.
  • Test Planning and Execution: Develop comprehensive test plans to verify product specifications and monitor development progress.
  • Reliability and Safety Analysis: Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to assess reliability and identify potential safety or liability concerns.
  • Project Coordination and Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to track product development milestones and ensure successful project delivery.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Master's Degree in Power Electronics: A Master's degree in Power Electronics is required, along with 8-12 years of experience in the field.
  2. Closed-Loop Control and Compensator Design: Strong understanding of closed-loop control for power converters and compensator design is essential.
  3. High-Speed Semiconductor Devices: Experience with high-speed or high-power semiconductor devices, specifically power converter designs over 100kVA and in medium voltage applications.
  4. Solid Technical Knowledge: Solid technical knowledge, competence, and system-level design experience are necessary for success in this role.
  5. Project Management: Proven track record of managing multiple power electronics projects involving analog and digital electronics as well as control circuitry.
  6. EMI Filter Design: Experience in EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) filter design and product qualification/compliance testing is required.
  7. Circuit Simulation Tools: Familiarity with circuit simulation tools like SIMULINK is essential.
  8. Deterioration Analysis: Skills in derating, FMEA, and reliability analysis are necessary for this role.
  9. Circuit Debugging: Excellent circuit debugging and troubleshooting capabilities are required.
  10. Technical Documentation: Experience in writing technical documents such as hardware requirements, product design specifications, test specifications, and board-level design details.
  11. Component Selection: Strong knowledge of component selection and system integration is necessary.
  12. Communication Skills: Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written, are required.
  13. Mentorship and Teamwork: Experience mentoring small teams with strong decision-making capabilities and the ability to work effectively in an agile product development model.
