Job Role

This is a key role within our organization, focused on Database Administration. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple Oracle and SQL server databases across various locations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Database administration: Administering multiple Oracle and SQL server databases, including cloning, patching, and upgrading.
  • User support: Providing user support and resolving database-related issues.
  • Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving database problems, conducting regular health checks, and developing new requirements based on team inputs.
  • Coordination with vendors: Collaborating with vendors to address new patches, requirements, and bugs within specified timelines.
  • Knowledge transfer: Providing technical training to peers and subordinates within the IT department.
  • Release deployment: Testing product patches released by vendors, tracking issues until closure, and supporting User Acceptance Testing for new features and functionalities added in HIS and related systems.
  • Maintaining departmental processes: Managing issue trackers, approval records, and other duties assigned by the reporting manager.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Oracle database architecture: Understanding of Oracle database architecture, cloning, patching, and upgrading.
  • SQL Server database architecture: Familiarity with SQL server database architecture, administration, patching, and upgrade.
  • Database administration: Experience with production critical/multi-terabyte Oracle Databases – 11g/10g administration, monitoring, proactive health check of the database.
  • Database backup/recovery: Knowledge in database backup/recovery including Hot Backup, Cold Backup, and RMAN.
  • Partitioned tables: Administration of oracle partitioned tables and their maintenance.
  • Disaster recovery: Expertise in Disaster recovery strategies for production/non-production databases.
  • UNIX shell commands: Basic UNIX shell commands and scripting.
  • Time management: Effective time management, organizing, analytical/problem solving skills.
