Accounting Manager Role Overview

The primary responsibilities of this position include ensuring timely and accurate financial statements, managing revenue recognition processes, performing detailed accounting research, and effectively managing staff.

This role is instrumental in coordinating the annual audit and ensuring proper internal controls over financial reporting are in place.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages month-end close process including accurate and timely recording of income, expenses, and changes in assets and liabilities on a monthly basis in accordance with IFRS requirements.
  • Reviews and approves journal entries and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepares monthly balance sheet and income statement trend analyses for management.
  • Prepares quarterly lender compliance package.
  • Ensures overall technical accounting compliance, including monitoring relevant IFRS and US GAAP developments to ensure accounting policies and procedures comply with current standards.
  • Serves as an internal technical accounting expert, which includes performing research and preparing technical accounting memos, and also includes reviewing new and existing revenue contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition.
  • Works cross-functionally during contract negotiation process by analyzing impact of non-standard contract terms, communicating revenue impact of such terms, and offering alternative structures.
  • Participates in quarterly forecasting procedures and annual budget process.
  • Supports annual audit and quarterly reviews, provides supporting analysis and technical accounting memos.
  • Provides training sessions and keeps business partners abreast of developments in accounting and revenue recognition.
  • Develops and/or improves existing policies, procedures, and controls.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA/CA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of financial and accounting experience with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience required.
