Role

We're seeking an experienced credit research professional to contribute to our Debtwire Credit Research Team. This team provides unique insights and valuation analysis on companies and their securities that are restructuring, in the process of a transforming event or raising capital. Key responsibilities will include reviewing financial statements and legal documents to produce detailed credit research on stressed, distressed, and restructuring companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce credit research reports that provide financial and valuation analysis on performing, high-yield, stressed, and distressed private- and public-Asian ex-China corporates.
  • Assist in periodic macro reports on bonds, private credit, syndicated loans, and the macroeconomic factors that affect them.
  • Interact with subscribers electronically and personally to discuss credit and macro analysis.
  • Periodically provide analysis for internal Debtwire and ION projects.
  • Along with creating credit research, the candidate will mentor junior analysts, assist in various weekly, monthly, quarterly, and special reports, and ad-hoc projects.

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
  • You should have five to eight years' experience either as a credit or equity research analyst in an investment bank and/or investment management, of which at least two years must be within credit research.
  • Graduated from a US, UK, or European university or Indian Institute of Management.
  • Ability to write reports with convincing evidence-based thesis and conclusions in a structured manner.
  • Naturally curious and driven to figure out how to analyze complex situations and be tenacious in obtaining information.
  • Excellent understanding of financial statements: income statement, balance sheet, and cash flows, and the drive to thoroughly read the information supporting the financial statements.
  • A thorough understanding of debt and equity securities and the markets they trade in, including some knowledge of bankruptcy processes.
  • Strong English presentation, speaking, and writing skills. Additional Asian languages will be considered a plus.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Knowledge on Excel macros, Excel VBA, and Python would be a plus.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment, with a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Ability to manage workflow under strict deadlines.
  • Candidates should be prepared to take a writing test.
