Job Title: Entry-Level Kitchen Assistant

The Commis 3rd is a fundamental role in our culinary team, responsible for supporting food preparation, cooking, and maintaining kitchen hygiene.

About the Role:

This entry-level position serves as a stepping stone to more senior roles, requiring learning and mastering Chinese culinary techniques, ingredients, and kitchen operations under close supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and marinating.
  • Support basic cooking tasks, such as stir-frying, steaming, and deep-frying, under direct supervision.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of workstations, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure high standards of hygiene and food safety at all times.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down workstations at the start and end of shifts.
  • Follow recipes and instructions from senior kitchen staff to guarantee consistency and quality in food preparation.
  • Help with plating and presentation of dishes, meeting our restaurant's standards.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory control.
  • Collaborate with senior kitchen staff to prepare sauces, stocks, and broths according to established recipes.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance cooking skills and knowledge of Chinese cuisine.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment preferred.
  • Ability to learn and master new culinary techniques and recipes.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with Chinese ingredients and cooking methods.
