Strategic Procurement Specialist for Pan-India Operations

This is a unique opportunity to join Amazon's India Operations' Opex Procurement team as a Strategic Procurement Specialist for Pan-India Operations. The role involves managing facility and security workforce staffing services, pest control, drinking water and tea, coffee category/subcategories, and projects of increased complexity.

The successful candidate will have the autonomy to define and own the capabilities, procurement strategies, and innovation roadmap for the category and team. They will work closely with central and regional RME, Safety, employee relation, sustainable relation teams, and explore vendors and technologies to support conveyance and automation projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating key spend, performance, and compliance data to lead supplier or category decisions;
  • Using knowledge of the market segment for assigned categories to identify trends and mitigate potential market-related issues;
  • Identifying, developing, and implementing sourcing strategy, working with cross-functional teams to ensure that strategies are executed, and effectively communicating initiatives to gain customer and supplier buy-in and to drive them towards anticipated outcomes;
  • Buiding mechanisms and leading initiatives to ensure that suppliers' costs don't extend beyond established goals. Constantly seeking ways to reduce spending and demonstrating the ability to advise business owners on whether a given purchase is reasonable and justified;
  • Determining which suppliers should be positioned for long-term contracts based on the suppliers' overall value to the business. Establishing and implementing standards for partnering with these suppliers;
  • Establishing supplier diversity/sourcing targets and expanding current supplier selection options accordingly. Regularly evaluating these targets to raise the bar in terms of deliverables;
  • Negotiating commercials, contract terms, and implementation plan with suppliers. Ensuring compliance documents and contract management with suppliers by collaborating with legal, business, operations, and tax teams;
  • Operating with significant autonomy and discretion;
  • Promoting the Procurement team internally and externally;
  • Creating mechanisms to measure supplier performances like scorecards, metrics, supplier QBRs etc.

Basic qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree;
  • 7+ years of creating, defining, and implementing procurement strategy experience.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Masters degree;
  • 10+ years of experience with focus on supply chain, strategic sourcing, operational planning, or supplier management;
  • Experience and knowledge of soft services, facility and security workforce management, pest control, drinking water and tea, coffee category suppliers, and the related procurement;
  • Ability to proactively manage supplier relationships to drive value for our customers;
  • Ability to exercise judgment in evaluation of suppliers, supplier performance, and ensure that project goals, schedules, and performance requirements are achieved;
  • Exceptional skill in negotiation, contract development, and program management;
  • Strategic, long-term critical thinking and planning;
  • Financial analysis and value/TCO analysis;
  • Bias for action and urgency;
  • Customer obsession and clear concise communications skills;
  • Must have a positive, collaborative attitude;
  • Likes to challenge convention and strive for innovation;
  • Excellent verbal skills and above-average written communication skills;
  • Strong PC skills including Windows and Excel.
