Commercial Manager Job Overview

The role of a Commercial Manager involves developing and implementing commercial strategies to optimize vessel chartering and bulk carrier operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in managing chartering activities, negotiating charter party terms, and overseeing the preparation of post-fixture documentation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing chartering activities for owned bulk carriers, including spot, time charter, and contract fixtures.
  • Liaising with brokers, charterers, and operators to identify and secure cargoes and employment opportunities.
  • Negotiating charter party terms and overseeing the preparation of post-fixture documentation.
  • Monitoring market movements, freight indices, and competitor activities to support commercial decisions.
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders such as operations, technical, and legal teams to ensure seamless contract execution.
  • Analyzing voyage results, evaluating profitability, and contributing to performance and market reporting.
  • Maintaining comprehensive records of fixtures, voyage outcomes, and client interactions.
  • Providing market insights and feedback to senior management for strategic planning.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Strong commercial shipping or vessel chartering experience, with exposure to bulk carriers.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Shipping, Maritime Studies, Business, or a related discipline.
