Remote Physics Researcher (PhD) Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Physics Researcher to join our team in an exciting research opportunity.

Job Description:

As a Remote Physics Researcher (PhD), you will be part of a dynamic research team focused on testing the reasoning capabilities of large language models. Your primary responsibility will be to create complex physics problems for AI models to solve, analyze model responses, and identify gaps in logic or understanding.

  • Create physics problems: Develop and propose complex physics problems for AI models to solve, pushing the boundaries of their reasoning capabilities.
  • Analyze model responses: Carefully examine the outputs of AI models and identify areas where they struggle with logical reasoning or fail to understand the underlying physics.
  • Develop tasks: Design and implement tasks such as calculating probability distributions and defining joint probability distributions to further challenge the AI models.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Education and qualifications: You must have a Ph.D. or postdoctoral experience in Physics, Applied Physics, or a related field.
  • Research skills: Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to design and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Communication skills: Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback and examples to support your arguments.
  • Independence: Comfortable working independently and remotely, with minimal supervision.
  • Equipment and software: Access to stable computer hardware and internet connectivity, along with relevant software tools and resources.

Commitment and Contract Details

  • Time commitment: A minimum of 20 hours per week, with options for 30 or 40 hours per week, and at least 4 hours of overlap with PST.
  • Engagement type: Contractor assignment or freelancer, with no medical or paid leave.
  • Contract duration: One month, with expected start dates and defined timelines and workload.
  • Selection process: Task-based assessment for shortlisted candidates, followed by a contract offer.
