We are seeking a skilled professional to combine scientific expertise with creative design skills to produce accurate and visually engaging materials.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to interpret complex scientific ideas and transform them into compelling visual representations. This may include creating scientific illustrations, graphical abstracts, journal cover images, infographics, posters, brochures, and more.

About the Role

As a Scientific Graphic Designer, you will be responsible for developing visually appealing graphics that convey scientific information in an accurate and impactful way. Your work will involve reading and comprehending scientific manuscripts, extracting key visual elements, and collaborating with researchers, writers, and clients to refine and finalize the visual representation.

Your primary responsibility will be to create high-quality graphics that meet client expectations and are delivery-ready.

You will also review your peers' and freelancers' outputs to ensure they meet client requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Develop visually engaging graphical abstracts that succinctly represent the essence of a scientific study.
  • Read and comprehend scientific manuscripts to extract key visual elements and concepts.
  • Develop storyboards that outline the visual narrative, ensuring alignment with the scientific content and client objectives.
  • Generate rough sketches to illustrate the initial visual concepts, collaborating closely with researchers, writers, and clients to refine and finalize the visual representation.
  • Review your peers and freelancers' outputs to ensure they meet client expectations and are delivery-ready.
Qualifications
  • Graduate/PhD degree in STEM fields (especially Biology/Biotechnology/Medicine/Chemistry/Physics/Engineering)
  • 3-5 years of experience in scientific graphic designing, communicating science and complex research into visually engaging output.
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop).
  • Creating 3D designs in Blender is an added advantage.
  • Experience in scientific graphic designing, medical illustrations, journal cover designs, and graphical abstract.
  • An understanding of the scientific publishing & science communication landscape.
