Project Cost Controller Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of a project, including budget preparation, invoicing, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Management: Prepare and manage the project budget, including annual/quarterly/monthly planning and rolling forecasts.
  • Manage project invoicing, tax issues, bonds, guarantees, financial accounting and reporting, and optimize project cash flow, revenues, and GM contribution in collaboration with Central Cost Controller/Project Manager as needed.
  • Identify opportunities and risks, implement mitigation actions, and drive monthly project reviews jointly with the PM/Central Controller/PSCM.
  • Review and have joint responsibility for all financial aspects of the project, including estimate at completion and related cost-to-complete, forecasted revenues and cash flow, risks, and opportunities assessment, and ensure alignment with other functions, including Project Controls, Planning/Scheduling.
  • Promote commercial awareness within the project team and provide commercial input to the project execution plan.
  • Live the core values of safety and integrity by taking responsibility for your actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.
  • Coordinate with clients for invoice approval, payment, and compliance-related matters.
  • Maintain an updated billing register capturing details of all billings, status on approval, payment, deductions, and reasons, and follow up to collect deducted amounts.
  • Monitor and control site expenses strictly, providing weekly reports in a specified format and reconciling SAP entries with invoices.
  • Analyze actual vs. budget costs and revenue on the project, highlighting potential issues to the controller manager and project managers.
  • Lead the activity of project actualization (actua) at HO-defined frequency, coordinating with the project team to obtain required data, discussing with the controller manager to prepare finance-related slides for actua presentations, uploading actua in SAP post-approval from required individuals.
  • Review Kappa against budgeted costs and highlight any deviations, ensuring adequate documents are attached with Kappa.
  • Share project slides for monthly business reviews in accordance with timelines defined by the project team, keeping the controller manager informed.
  • Conduct a comprehensive check on provisions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting rules and HO instructions.
  • Perform monthly cash verification and surprise verification at least once a month, reporting results to the HO team (controller manager and IFC team).
  • Lead and supervise compliance with Internal Financial Controls (IFC) as defined by HO in the Risk and Control Matrix (RCM).
  • Monitor ABG, PBG, and other guarantees, insurances to ensure timely renewal and reduction according to contractual conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Provide support to the execution team and serve as a core finance support for all finance-related matters on-site, anticipating issues, discussing with the controller manager, and taking proactive actions to resolve them.
  • Fulfill timesheets for self and staff working on the project in a timely manner.
  • Supervise the day-to-day work of the site accountant, providing guidance and support for efficient conduct of site tasks.
  • Support the central controlling team on various analyses and ad-hoc requests.
