Job Overview

The role of a Mechanical Design Specialist involves designing and preparing working drawings for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in commercial and light industrial buildings.

Key Objectives:

  • To deliver high-quality designs within project timelines.
  • To ensure compliance with contract documents and effective coordination with other services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing accurate HVAC working drawings per project standards.
  • Coordinating with civil, architectural, electrical, plumbing, and fire-fighting layouts.
  • Resolving technical issues with site teams.
  • Maintaining documentation and drawing logs as per ISO requirements.
  • Supporting quantity take-offs and drawing approvals.
  • Monitoring productivity and contributing to quality assurance processes.
  • Identifying additional work and informing the Project Manager.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC design principles and systems (chillers, AHUs, VAVs, FCUs, ventilation, smoke control).
  • Familiarity with GCC codes and Civil Defence regulations.
  • Proficiency in HVAC calculations and software (e.g., HAP).
  • Knowledge of Revit and Navisworks is highly valued.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
  • Understanding of related MEP systems.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
  • Preferrably, HVAC training certification.
