Internal Audit Manager Job Description

The role of the Internal Audit Manager is to oversee and direct all aspects of internal audit functions, ensuring they are aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing audit programs that align with the audit plan, executing audits and reviews in accordance with established standards.
  • Coordinating with business units and clients on audit meetings and fieldwork, achieving alignment on audit observations and finalizing action plans.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation of all audit work papers as per established procedures and quality assurance standards.
  • Providing consultative support to business units on Enterprise Risk Management Framework implementation and control self-assessments, reviewing the programs for adequacy of coverage and providing recommendations.
  • Supporting business teams to enhance control awareness through Governance, Risk and Compliance/Business Process Controls training programs, providing feedback on observations.
  • Identifying and reporting unusual events/business irregularities and control violations, participating in forensic audits/fraud investigations and reporting results.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Chartered Accountant (and/or) Cost & Management Accountant certification, with relevant internal audit experience (and/or) Certified Internal Auditor status.
  • 7-10 years of internal audit experience.
  • Exposure to manufacturing/process industry preferred, good understanding of accounting standards (Ind AS, US GAAP, IFRS), exposure to accepted practices of accounting consolidation, financial preparation, and reporting.
  • Forensic reviews/fraud investigations experience preferred, exposure/hands-on experience with SAP and proficiency in MS Office package.
  • Tech-savvy individual with a good understanding of database systems and ability to effectively employ technology.
