About the Position:

We seek a seasoned technical leader to guide our mobile development team in crafting and expanding Zeller's customer-facing mobile applications.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with your team and engineering management to develop architectural solutions, drive technological innovation, and oversee operational excellence.
  • Regularly contribute to production code while maintaining oversight of your team's technical deliverables and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Own operational excellence for your team's systems, focusing on monitoring, incident response, and reliability improvements.
  • Champion modern development practices, actively utilizing LLMs within your team and promoting the adoption of technical best practices at the company.
  • Lead a team of software engineers, identifying skill gaps, managing personal development plans, and fostering a positive culture of learning, ownership, and psychological safety.
  • Partner closely with product managers as joint owners of your product success, providing technical insight and delivery expertise to shape product development.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • You have successfully designed complex features for mobile apps and worked on mission-critical applications used at scale.
  • You possess experience working in product-driven companies, driving pace, and delivering results.
  • You are well-versed in mobile system design, demonstrating rational decision-making skills that balance detail and broader context.
  • You excel in communication, capable of transitioning seamlessly from conversations with non-technical stakeholders to reframing projects into detailed design requirements for your engineering team.
  • You have a strong self-learning drive, actively incorporating generative AI tools into your workflows.
  • Prior experience with React Native is highly valued, and knowledge of payment or mobile banking solutions is a plus.

 

Technical Background:

Proficient in writing production React Native code, comfortable with our full tech-stack. Tools include:

  • React Native for cross-platform mobile development
  • A modern GraphQL-based API
  • Extensive application monitoring tools like Sentry, Datadog, Segment
  • A serverless, event-driven backend architecture running on AWS
  • A rigorous approach to continuous integration and system correctness, including infrastructure as code (CDK, Terraform) and high coverage of unit, integration, and system tests built with GitHub Actions
