Our organization is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux/Unix administration, a solid understanding of code and scripting languages, and experience with automation/configuration management technologies such as Puppet or Chef.

This role requires the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and to make sound technical decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Administration of Red Hat Linux systems
  • Exploration and integration of new technologies to transition operations from traditional administration to infrastructure as application leveraging automation/configuration management technologies
  • Daily maintenance/administration of multiple Unix systems
  • Preparation for new product releases and assistance with new initiatives and upgrades

Other responsibilities include working closely with the product development team to implement and support client offerings, assisting with Veritas backups and recovery, configuration and maintenance of monitoring systems, and occasional work after hours or weekends at our co-location facility.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum 4-6 years' experience in a systems administrator role
  • Post-secondary education in computer science or technology support services or equivalent capability from relevant work experience
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and experience in IP networking and static routing FTP, SSH, SMTP, DNS, HTTP/S, DHCP, syslog logging facility
  • Experience in a high-availability and mission-critical environment
  • Competency in administering OS for very large database systems (TB+)
  • Experience with Firewalls (IPTABLES/IPCHAINS)
  • Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and Mongo databases

Additional skills and qualifications may include:

  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems
  • Experience with automation/configuration management tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
